Agnes died on 24 July 1948.
She was truly a pioneering woman who left behind her an amazing legacy.
Just days after the RJAH hospital had transferred into the hands of the newly formed NHS, Dame Agnes died aged 81.
In a memorial to her written shortly after her death it is said she ‘left an inspiration for others to carry out her vision’.
Her ashes are interred at the graveyard in Baschurch, with her good friend Emily Goodford.
NB: Although her funeral Order of Service says she was born in 1867, her birth certificate confirms that Agnes Hunt was born in 1866.
