Supported Internships focus on work placements, with support to work towards a qualification.

The core aim of a Supported Internship programme is to undertake substantial work placements facilitated by the support of an expert job coach.

Supported Internships can take up to one academic year to complete and help to prepare young people with learning difficulties for work. Job coaches support interns, with the aim to reduce the amount of support required by the end of the placement duration.

The work placement makes up 70% of the programme.

The placement will be external to college and linked to each intern’s own work aspirations.

College days

The intern will spend 30% of their time at college, working towards a qualification in their chosen vocation, core functional and employability skills, and will collate their portfolio of work.
