Join us for the 2025 Derwen College 10km Challenge
This year’s Challenge takes place on Saturday 5 April 2025
The 10km Challenge is a sponsored walk and fun run route around Gobowen, near Oswestry, raising money for Derwen Charity.
Route information
Leaving Derwen College at 10am, the 10km Challenge is an accessible, relatively flat route, with a 6km option available if 10km is too much of a challenge for you.
You can see a map of the route in the Google Map below.
*Please note that the route is NOT a closed road route. There will be marshalls on the route, but please also observe the green cross code.
On the day
Everyone taking part in the 10km Challenge needs to be on-site at our Gobowen campus and signed in to registration at our former Tiffins building, next door to reception, by 9.45am.
There will be a warm up session at 9.45am, and the Challenge will start at 10am.
All walkers, runners and wheelers will be off-site by 10.30am, and will be followed by a back marshall to indicate the end of the 10km Challenge.
We expect everyone to be back on-site by 1pm. Anyone not back by this time will be offered a return to College in one of our College vehicles.
All registered finishers get a medal and goody bag.
The weather is looking good for the 10km Challenge. The route is all along country lanes, and although we don’t expect much mud, we would recommend sensible, comfortable footwear.
Parking
Parking can be found at Derwen College’s Entrance A on Twmpath Lane in Gobowen.
Registration
Online registrations have now closed, but you can still sign up on the day for £10 per person.
Registration is at our former Tiffins building (next door to reception), and is open from 8.30am until 9.45am.
All participants need to register their attendance prior to 9.45am.

Thank you
We continue to fundraise to provide our students with opportunities to enhance their learning and independence skills. However, Derwen College relies on donations to make this happen. We raise funds to provide the specialist tools, equipment and experiences our students need to reach their goals.
If you are unable to take part in the 10km Challenge this year, there are other ways of supporting Derwen during 2025:
1 – Donate directly to Derwen.
2 – Do some fundraising! Contact our Fundraiser Megan Charman to discuss your ideas and get involved.
3 – Come to our next event, the summer Fete and Dog Show, or one of our other events.
4 – Let your friends and family know about Derwen College. We are on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok always appreciate a like, comment or share.
