Our Nurture programme students have been out and about hiding hand-made gifts around Gobowen campus.

As part of their Communication and Interaction session, Nurture students Romilly, Iwan, Joe, and Minnie have been busy hiding charming knitted characters around the campus, creating a treasure hunt that combines fun with learning.

These woollen characters were lovingly crafted and donated to the College by Jennifer Boit, whose daughter Zoe works as a support practitioner. They are more than just cute trinkets as each comes with a message. Each character has a note saying: “I am not lost, just all alone. If I made you smile, please take me home. Yours to keep or give away. To bring you luck along the way.” Alongside this message, a QR code leads finders to the Derwen College Facebook page. Finders are being encouraged to share their newfound treasures online.

The students took turns selecting their favourite characters and choosing hiding spots by pointing to a map of the campus. This activity not only fostered teamwork and communication but also allowed the students to explore and interact with peers and staff from other pathways.

Nurture teacher Louise Holloway shared her excitement about the project. She said: “We had a lovely morning hiding these characters around College, interacting with students and staff, and exploring campus. Thanks to Jennifer for making and donating them, and good luck to anyone who is seeking to find one. We’ll be out again tomorrow!”
