Join us for the 2024 Derwen Charity 10KM Challenge

This year’s challenge takes place on Saturday 23 March

The 10KM Challenge is a sponsored walk and fun run route around Gobowen, near Oswestry, raising money for Derwen Charity.

Route information

Leaving Derwen College at 10am, the 10KM Challenge is an accessible, relatively flat route, with shorter options available if 10KM is too much of a challenge for you.

*Please note that the route is NOT a closed road route. There will be marshalls on the route, but please also observe the green cross code.

On the day

Everyone taking part in the 10KM Challenge needs to be on-site at our Gobowen campus and signed in to registration at our former Tiffins building, next door to reception, by 9.45am.

There will be a warm up session at 9.45am, and the Challenge will start at 10am.

All walkers, runners and wheelers will be off-site by 10.10am and will be followed by a back marshall to indicate the end of the 10KM Challenge.

We expect everyone to be back on-site by 1pm. Anyone not back by this time will be offered a return to college in one of our college vehicles.

All registered finishers get a medal and goody bag.

We strongly suggest you register prior to the event. Registrations on the day are welcome, but we can’t guarantee you will receive a medal upon completion of the route.

We continue to fundraise to provide our students with opportunities to enhance their learning and independence skills. However, Derwen College relies on donations to make this happen. We raise funds to provide the specialist tools, equipment and experiences our students need to reach their goals.

If you are unable to take part in the 10k Challenge this year, there are other ways of supporting Derwen during 2024:
