Our campus at Walford offers a spacious and accessible environment for students with SEND.

Derwen College Walford is located north west of Shrewsbury and offers young adults (aged 16-25), with special educational needs and disabilities including autism, the opportunity to develop core skills that directly relate to their aspirations.

Students attend on a daily basis and can learn on a number of pathways or programmes:

This campus welcomes a small group of students, each with a bespoke timetable to facilitate their own progression and skill development.

Independence

As well as learning key work skills, students also learn independence skills with the aim to become more self-reliant. Independence skills can include:

  • Laundry
  • Personal safety (including online)

A core aspect of life at Derwen College Walford includes socialising and building friendships. Staff plan activities to facilitate these opportunities.

 

Derwen College has three satellite campuses for day students at Ludlow, Telford and Walford.

Residential and day students also attend the main Gobowen campus, near Oswestry.

Visiting Derwen College Walford

Derwen College Walford is located near Baschurch, Shrewsbury (SY4 2HL) about 30 minutes drive from Derwen College’s Gobowen campus.

NB: From Oswestry, go past the main Walford campus entrance (for the Harris Centre) and take the next right turn.  Turn immediately right and park in the small car park.  Follow the signs to Derwen College Walford along the footpath.
